buffet-brutalist-bois-massif-185-cm
185 cm solid wood Brutalist sideboard

The Brutalist sideboard lines up 185 cm of solid wood, oak or walnut depending on the version, across two doors and two drawers, at a height of just 64 cm. Its mass rests on round uprights that run down the front and extend into skids resting on the floor. This is the shorter of the model's two sizes.

What it holds

A door at each end opens onto height-adjustable shelves. In the center, two drawers, one above the other.

How much space to allow

Allow 185 cm of clear wall and 45 cm of depth, plus the clearance needed to pull out a drawer or open a door. At 64 cm high, the top stays below eye level when you are seated: it can hold a screen, a lamp or a row of objects without blocking the view. The skids sit flat on the floor, so the floor needs to be even.

The wood and its finish

The structure is solid wood. All wood surfaces are treated with hard wax oil, which leaves the grain visible and can be touched up: a scratch is sanded with fine-grit sandpaper in the direction of the grain, then re-oiled. Boards with a knot larger than 20 mm are set aside, and color variations remain possible from one board to the next on the same piece.

Living with solid wood

Solid wood responds to the air in the room. Between 40 and 60% relative humidity it stays stable; in drier air it can shrink and show fine cracks, which close again when the humidity rises. Keep it away from radiators and air conditioning vents, and limit direct sunlight, which changes the color of the wood over time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0973/8000/8263/files/buffet-brutalist-bois-massif-185-cm-vue-d-ensemble-chene-naturel.jpg?v=1792405992
