Viola plates are made from reactive glaze stoneware: when fired at high temperatures, the mineral oxides in the glaze react randomly to create completely natural variations in shades, gradients, and textures. Each plate is thus unique — no two pieces are exactly alike. These natural imperfections are a sought-after characteristic of handcrafted ceramics, not a flaw. The sandy beige palette with cream and golden highlights is in keeping with the great tradition of contemporary Scandinavian stoneware.
