Each Kodi mushroom is individually carved from a solid block of teak, chosen for its rich grain. The burr visible on the cap of the large model, with its concentric swirls of fibers characteristic of teak knots, is among the rarest and most prized wood formations for sculptors. The variations in hue, from honey blonde to deep caramel to warm brown, depend on the part of the tree used and evolve naturally over time. No two pieces are identical: each set brings together two sister but distinct sculptures.

Teak is renowned as one of the most noble woods: dense, rich in natural oils, and resistant to water, insects, and weathering. Irregularities in the cap, natural edges, burl inclusions, and micro-cracks are not defects but signatures of living wood.
