What IP rating does a bathroom light need?

IP44 is the usual benchmark: it protects against splashing water and suits most positions away from the shower and the bath. Closest to the water, go up to IP65. The exact zones depend on your installation, so have them confirmed by an electrician.

Can I install a pendant light in a bathroom?

Yes, on two conditions: it must have a suitable IP rating and be installed outside the zones closest to the water, with enough ceiling height so that it does not get in the way.

Illuminated mirror or wall lights on either side?

An illuminated mirror lights the face evenly, without casting shadows, and keeps the wall clear. Two wall lights placed on either side give a softer, symmetrical light, but need more space. A ceiling light on its own often casts shadows on the face.

What size mirror above a washbasin?
