Frequently asked questions about furnishing your dining room

Which table suits my dining room?

Allow about 60 cm per guest and keep at least 90 cm around the table to move about. Choose a rectangular table for a long room and for entertaining, a round one for a sociable feel in a tighter space, and an oval one as a compromise in a narrow passage.

How high should a pendant light hang above the dining table?

Leave about 70 to 85 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the pendant light: the table is well lit and you can see your guests without being dazzled. Centre the light over the table, not the room, if the two do not line up.

How do I pair a dining table with chairs?

There is no need for everything to match: echo a shared material or colour and play with contrast. Light chairs lift a dark wood table. Above all, keep the right seat height, around 45 cm for a 75 cm table.

Where should I store crockery in a dining room?

Designing Your Dining Room

The dining room is organized around the table. First, choose a dining table that is the right size for your space, then comfortable chairs where people will enjoy lingering. Allow about 60 cm of width per guest.

The Pendant Light Above the Table

This is the element that sets the mood for a meal. A pendant light about 75 cm above the tabletop creates warm light and a distinct visual zone around the table.

Storage and Details

A sideboard stores dishes and decorates a wall, a rug defines the dining area, and a few vases or candle holders complete the table setting.

Once the table and chairs are in place, it's time to set it: discover our tableware, our serving dishes and our washed linen table linen.
