Fifty-one centimeters is a deliberately chosen height, not a random one: placed on an entrance console or a sideboard, the lampshade falls above the surface and below the eye level of someone seated nearby. This illuminates the surface without dazzling the room. The switch is on the lampshade, within easy reach, just like on the wall light from the same line; the floor lamp is the exception with its foot switch. And one point eight kilograms on a twenty-centimeter base is enough to hold the lamp in place when you pull the cord.
