Protecting and maintaining the tabletop according to the material
Every material has its weak point, and knowing it avoids many regrets. Tempered glass, 8 to 10 mm thick on serious models, is not afraid of heat or stains but shows all fingerprints: a slightly damp microfiber cloth, without greasy products, solves the problem. Solid wood should be protected with coasters, as a water mark will whiten varnish and penetrate an oiled finish; an oiled wood can be revived with suitable oil once or twice a year, while varnished wood simply needs a soft cloth.
