The serving dish is the piece that takes a meal from the kitchen to the table. It is seen, it passes from hand to hand, and it remains in the center throughout the meal. So it might as well be beautiful and last over time.

Dishes and Trays, from Everyday to Festive Meals

Our rectangular stoneware dishes accompany stews and tarts, with a glaze that varies from piece to piece. The large two-tone teak trays, up to one meter long, serve equally well as a serving tray or as a permanent fixture on a coffee table or island. Salad bowls and bowls complete the set for appetizers and shared salads.

The Pieces That Seem Insignificant

Cake stand, ice bucket, wine cooler, serving spoons and forks: these are the things that make a meal run smoothly without having to get up. The cake stand in particular changes the nature of a simple dessert, by elevating it in the center of the table rather than leaving it flat in its mold.

Teak or Stoneware, What It Changes in Use

Stoneware is dishwasher safe on a standard program and microwave safe without metal: it's the choice for serving dishes that go in the oven and come back to the table. Solid teak, on the other hand, has no manufacturer-documented dishwasher use, cleans with a barely damp cloth, and should be oiled twice a year. It does not accommodate a dish coming out of the oven. In return, it ages with a patina and does not scratch like a lacquered surface. For individual place settings, find our tableware, and to dress underneath, our tablecloths and napkins.

What Size Serving Dish to Choose?

For four guests, a 30 cm dish is sufficient for a side dish, and 36 cm for a shared main course. Beyond six people, two medium dishes are better than one very large one: they circulate on both sides of the table and don't force anyone to lean over. Very large trays, starting from 50 cm, are more to be thought of as fixed pieces than as serving dishes.

For what goes in the oven before arriving on the table, see our kitchen utensils: crackled stoneware oven dishes, casseroles and cooking pieces that are served in their container.
