Solid teak carved Durian bowl

Dimensions and capacity for each size:

• ø 15 cm: 15 cm diameter, 8 cm high, 500 ml, 0.55 kg
• ø 20 cm: 20 cm diameter, 10 cm high, 650 ml, 0.8 kg
• The small one fits inside the large one

What makes each piece unique:

• Material: solid teak with a raw finish
• Sides hand-carved with four-faceted pyramidal spikes in staggered rows
• Spikes of uneven heights: no two pieces are identical
• Smooth interior, flat rim
• Grain and color unique to each piece, from blonde to reddish-brown

Such dense relief catches grazing light and casts dozens of tiny shadows: the bowl’s appearance changes depending on the time of day. The small one sits within reach on a coffee table; the large one becomes the focal point of a console or coffee table, and can be read from afar. Both harmonize with rattan, raffia, and raw woods.

What each size holds, and how to keep the wood beautiful:

• ø 15 cm: dried fruits, nuts, crackers, or chocolates
• ø 20 cm: four or five whole fruits, large portions to share, or a catch-all tray for keys
• Food contact: dry foods only
• Not microwave, oven, or dishwasher safe
• Hand-wash the interior with mild soap, without letting the carved side soak where water remains trapped
• Dry completely after each wash
• Regularly nourish the wood with a food-grade oil to prevent warping
• Dust the relief with a dry brush, following the direction of the rows
• Hold by the rim: on light-colored wood, a greasy mark left in a groove will darken
