Round placemat trimmed with cowrie shells 38 cm

Key measurements to help you visualize it under your plate:

• Diameter: 38 cm
• Thickness: 1 cm
• Weight: 220 to 280 g depending on the finish
• Sold individually
• Package: 38 x 38 x 1 cm

What it is made of, from the cord to the trim:

• Material: twisted sea grass cord, coiled and sewn
• Trim: cowrie shells sewn all around
• Manufacturing: handmade
• Surface: flatter and denser than raffia crochet
• Appearance: slight differences in tone and finish from one piece to another

The twist provides a steady rhythm reminiscent of basketry, and the cowrie shell trim adds a seaside flair. On a raw wood table, this regularity brings order where a fringe would add movement; on a marble slab, it warms up the stone. It complements stoneware as well as wooden dishes, with a glass resting on a braided coaster.

What you need to know for its use and maintenance:

• Usage: under a plate, indoors; this is not a trivet
• Storage: always flat, never rolled or slid in upright
• To avoid: folding it, the fine stitching connecting the rounds would come loose
• Cleaning: dry clean
• Cowrie shells: no products
