Set of 4 braided round Bombay placemats

Key measurements for setting your table:

• Placemat diameter: 38 cm
• Thickness: 0.5 cm
• Contents: set of 4 placemats
• Weight of the set: 0.4 kg
• Natural jute package: 40 x 40 x 4.5 cm, 0.53 kg
• Dark gray jute package: 43 x 43 x 4.5 cm, 0.53 kg
• Delivered ready to use

What makes their texture and structure:

• Material: jute, a plant fiber that is spun and then braided
• Construction: braid coiled in a spiral, with no added edge
• Tight braiding, which keeps the round shape flat
• Consistent thickness across the entire diameter
• Slight spiral irregularities from one set to the next, inherent to the fiber
• No coating: the fiber remains visible

Bombay placemats work on raw wood, stone, or glass tables, and pair well with matte stoneware, cut glass, and dark cutlery. Their texture warms up a bare table, and their shade defines the contrast with the tabletop. The round shape breaks up the geometry of a rectangular table and highlights that of a round one.

Where to use them, and how to keep them looking good:

• For the dining table, indoors
• One set for a table of four, two sets for a table of eight
• After the meal: shake them out, or vacuum on a low setting
• Stain: barely damp sponge, without ever soaking the placemat
• Dry flat, away from direct sunlight
• Neither dishwasher nor washing machine
• Store flat rather than rolled, to maintain their shape
