Sumba head sculpture in natural stoneware on a base 13 cm

Key measurements to find its place:

• Total height, base included: 13 cm
• Width: 8 cm
• Depth: 8 cm
• Weight: 0.8 kg
• Package: 15 x 15 x 15 cm

What it is composed of, from the stone to the base:

• Material: hand-carved sandstone
• Appearance: light sandstone with visible horizontal strata, softened edges
• Face: round eyes circled by a groove with a central pupil, short nose, slit mouth
• Base: stem and flat base in black lacquered iron
• Craftsmanship: handmade, color and texture unique to each piece

Its compact proportions give it a frankly funny quality, whereas elongated faces are more serious. This is the piece to place on a desk or kitchen shelf, the one that makes visitors smile rather than imposing a mood. Its light stoneware blends well with wood and woven fibers, and it pairs easily with other Sumba heads.

Where to place it and how to keep it clean:

• Uses: desk, console table, shelf, or grouped with other Sumba heads
• Handle the object from the bottom or by the base, never by the cheeks
• A greasy fingerprint on a porous stone cannot be removed
• Dust with a dry brush or soft cloth, including in the eye sockets
• No water or cleaning products: stoneware absorbs moisture and can become stained
• Indoor use
