L'abat-jour est-il livré avec son câblage ?

Non. Nos abat-jour sont livrés nus, sans cordon ni douille, ce qui permet de les monter sur une installation existante ou de choisir librement leur suspension. Prévoyez un cordon avec douille E27, disponible dans ce même rayon, ainsi qu'une ampoule.
Faut-il un électricien pour l'installer ?

Pas nécessairement. Le cordon à brancher se raccorde à une prise classique grâce à sa prise à deux broches et à son interrupteur en ligne : aucune intervention sur l'installation électrique. La rosace de plafond, elle, se raccorde à un point lumineux existant.
Quelle ampoule pour un abat-jour en rotin ?

Une ampoule à culot E27, en LED, et d'une puissance qui ne dépasse pas 40 W sur nos cordons. Une lumière blanc chaud à 3000 K met mieux en valeur la fibre naturelle qu'un blanc neutre, qui durcit la teinte du rotin.
Comment entretenir un abat-jour en fibres naturelles ?

Passez un pinceau à poils souples entre les brins, sans humidité. Tenez-le éloigné des vapeurs de cuisson, qui encrassent la fibre. La teinte du rotin naturel fonce doucement avec la lumière : c'est une patine normale, pas une altération.
Peut-on suspendre plusieurs abat-jour sur un seul point lumineux ?

Oui. Nos rosaces de plafond existent en version trois cordons, ce qui permet d'aligner trois abat-jour à partir d'un unique point électrique. C'est la solution pour éclairer une table longue ou un îlot sans faire poser deux sorties supplémentaires.

Composing your own pendant light rather than buying a pre-made one is what this section allows you to do. You choose the lampshade for its material and diameter, the cord for its length and color, and you get a unique piece. It's also the simplest way to change a light without touching the electricity.

Woven rattan, a material that filters light

Our lampshades are mostly hand-woven rattan, complemented by jute, abaca, raffia, and sisal. A natural fiber doesn't block light, it cuts it: when lit, the weave projects a pattern on the ceiling and walls, something no fabric lampshade does. Shades range from un-dyed natural to black. Natural rattan darkens gently with light; this is a patina, not discoloration.

From small diameters to 150 cm pieces

Sizes range from 60 cm to 150 cm in diameter, with shapes that completely change the installation: the flared bell diffuses widely downwards, the teardrop shape concentrates more, and very large models become ceiling features in their own right. A large lampshade above a coffee table or an island acts as both a light fixture and a decorative object. Just be mindful of the ceiling height before opting for the largest diameters.

A lampshade is sold bare, and that's intentional

Something to know before ordering: our lampshades are delivered alone, without wiring or socket. This allows them to be mounted on an existing setup or to freely choose the cord. Therefore, you also need a suspension cord with its E27 socket, which you will find in this same section.

  • The plug-in cord, with its two-pin plug and in-line switch, plugs into a standard outlet: no electrician, no ceiling drilling.
  • The ceiling rose with cord connects to an existing light point for a fixed installation. It comes in a single cord or triple cord version, to align several lampshades from the same point.

Cords accept a maximum power of 40 W and operate at 220 to 240 V. The bulb is not included: choose it from our bulbs and power supplies.

The same principle applies to table lamps. Our bare bases, made of black terracotta or solid teak, can be topped with the lampshade of your choice, allowing you to create a lamp that complements the room's pendant, using the same fiber or a deliberate contrast. This is a way to coordinate two light fixtures without buying the same model twice.

At what height should a lampshade be hung?

Above a tabletop, allow 70 to 80 cm between the table and the bottom of the lampshade: this way, you can see the person opposite without the light source being in your eyes. In a hallway or walkway, raise it at least two meters from the floor. A large diameter should be positioned higher than a small one, otherwise it will overwhelm the room.
