A hand-stitched vegetable fiber and an embroidered pattern:

• Material: dried banana leaves, hand-braided
• Construction: spiral stitched row by row, without an internal frame
• Pattern: diamonds hand-embroidered with thick ivory cotton thread, through the wall
• Handles: two, made of white cotton coiled rope, threaded through the rim
• Shape: round and bulbous, tapered at the opening

The off-white thread traces a graphic pattern on the raw fiber that distinguishes the Altea from traditional basketry. Placed at the foot of a bouclé sofa, with one holding a palm tree and the other set beside it, they warm up a light-toned living room and add a bohemian touch without cluttering the space.

Where to use them, and how to maintain them:

• Large basket: planter for a palm, monstera or fig tree, or for throws and cushions in the living room
• Small basket: shoes and accessories in the entryway, laundry or toys in the bedroom
• Moving: by the two cotton rope handles
• Maintenance: dry brush, or slightly damp cloth
• To avoid: prolonged exposure to moisture
