What it is made of and what makes each piece unique:

• Material: glazed stoneware
• Color: cream white, hand-painted reddish-brown rim that fades toward the center
• Exterior: sand-toned, more matte
• Production: mold-pressed and then hand-finished around the edges
• Appearance: contours, rim, and nuances unique to each piece

The oval is the shape missing from most tableware sets: it creates a focal point on the table and naturally follows the axis of a place setting. Place two oval plates at an angle rather than four in a row, and mix them with round plates. On a burlap or linen tablecloth, its reddish-brown rim warms up the table, and the two shapes nest perfectly within one another.

What you need to know for use and care:

• Uses for the 16 cm L: bruschettas, appetizers, butter, treats with coffee, or as a saucer
• Uses for the 24 cm L: fish, tartare, gratin, or side dishes
• Hand wash, piece by piece, with warm water and a soft sponge
• Storage: keep the 16 cm L separate, never under a stack of plates
• No descaling products on the rim
• Gradual heating, to avoid thermal shock
