Opera is best viewed in profile: that is where the curve of the wood is fully revealed, from the tilted backrest to the leg rest. Give it space and place it at a three-quarter angle to the wall rather than flush against it, in front of a window, at the end of a living room, or in the corner of a bedroom. The contrast between the wood with its prominent grain and the dark upholstery is enough to define it in the room: a thick rug, a reading lamp, and a small side table within reach will complete the nook.
