Hand-shaped terracotta blackened by fire:

• Material: unglazed terracotta, blackened by smoke firing
• Patina: from nearly uniform black to brown and copper clouds, unique to each pot
• Luster: in places almost metallic, achieved through burnishing
• Lid: matte black, hand-modeled horn-shaped knob
• Handles: two pointed lateral lugs
• Food contact: yes

Its two pointed lugs and horn-shaped knob give it the silhouette of a small antique pot, almost like a sculpture. Empty in the center of a table, it stands on its own; on a concrete countertop or a raw wood shelf, it keeps kitchen essentials close at hand. Linen and dark ceramics suit it well.

To use it daily and maintain its patina:

• Uses: sugar, spices, loose-leaf tea, or kitchen essentials
• Microwave and oven: yes
• Dishwasher: no, hand wash with mild soap and dry thoroughly
• Polish: no harsh detergents or abrasive sponges
• Handling: lift the jar by its lugs, never by the lid
• Closure: the lid rests on top, it is not airtight
