The ball joint is what makes it unique: it pivots in almost all directions, whereas a single-hinged spotlight only tilts in one plane. It can therefore be installed on the wall or ceiling and aimed at an angle, making it useful above a bookshelf, an offset counter, or a misplaced painting. Everything is cylindrical, with no sharp edges: it is the most discreet of the three Sollux designs, after the Merida cube and the Oculare sphere.
