The Merida illuminates whatever it is pointed at: a painting, a niche, a flight of stairs, a work surface. It provides directed accent lighting rather than general illumination, which is what makes it useful where a ceiling light would be too overpowering. Used in pairs on either side of a mirror, it provides frontal lighting. Its angular design links it to industrial and contemporary interiors, and its finish determines whether it blends into the wall or stands out from it.

What you need to know for installation and maintenance:

• Switch off the power at the electrical panel before any work
• Wall mounting: bracket screwed with two wall plugs, or on a flush-mounting box, plate held by two side screws
• Connection: live, neutral, and earth
• Installation should be carried out by an electrician if the light point does not exist
• GU10 bulb to be installed, not included
• Adjust the head once the wall light is fixed
• Maintenance: soft, dry cloth, bulb must be cold
• IP20: not suitable for damp areas in a bathroom
