A block of teak, carved from a single piece:

• Material: solid teak, sourced from the root
• Craftsmanship: handmade, carved from the block, no gluing
• Matte finish, unvarnished wood
• Traces of bark, closed cracks and lighter sapwood areas depending on the piece
• Frequent eye pattern in the center, shades from blond to honey brown
• Food contact: dry foods only

Solid wood of this thickness isn't read as a serving tray but as a piece of furniture: it holds its own when left empty, which is what allows it to be kept out permanently. On a coffee table, it brings together a carafe and glasses, candles, or a few books, and harmonizes with natural fiber cushions, coconut bowls, and simple glassware.

What you need to know to use it and keep it for a long time:

• Uses: appetizers, drinks, decorative base for candles, books, and objects
• Dry food directly on the wood, everything else on a plate or cloth
• Wipe up any spills immediately
• Hand wash with water and mild soap, do not submerge
• Not dishwasher, oven, or microwave safe
• Dry flat, without leaving water in the handles
• Food-grade mineral oil when the wood becomes dull
