Four crossed and lashed wooden rods, nothing more: the design is that of a standing bundle, holding the vertical without taking up any floor space. The dark lashing stands out against the wood, drawing the eye to where the uprights intersect. Empty, it reads like a sculpture; loaded, it restores to a small entryway the space a piece of furniture would take up. It fits just as well in the corner of a bedroom or near a desk as it does behind an entryway door.

• Doorstep delivery: no entry into the home, no unpacking, and no assembly
• Wood: a dry cloth for daily care, and a slightly damp cloth from time to time
• Light scratches: the manufacturer recommends 220-grit sandpaper used in the direction of the grain, no steel wool, followed by a new coat of hard wax oil applied with a soft cotton cloth
• Solid wood reacts to both dry and humid air: aim for 50% relative humidity in the room, or between 40 and 60%
• Keep it away from radiators or air conditioning vents
• Sunlight will change the color of the wood over time
• Leather: dust the lacing regularly and keep away from keys and sharp objects that may leave marks
• Excessive heat and direct sunlight will dry out the leather
• Brass: it oxidizes and darkens over time; polishing with a brass cleaner keeps it bright
