This smoky brown is the tone of whiskey glasses and antique lampshades, a color that is best expressed in warm light. It reveals itself under the warm glow of a lamp and leans toward gray under cool lighting: it is a living room piece rather than a kitchen one. It pairs well with neutral or textured materials, such as linen, wood, or stone, in a contemporary interior.

What it holds, and how to keep it clean:

• For a single stem, a short bouquet, or wildflowers
• As a votive for a thick candle: the tint softens the flame without obscuring it
• Indoor use
• Transparent base: wipe it dry, it shows fingerprints and water rings
• Do not place it on a wet surface
• Inside: a simple wipe with a sponge
