Frequently asked questions about wall lights

At what height should I fit a wall light?

For ambient lighting, allow about 1.60 to 1.80 metres from the floor. On either side of a bed, place them at reading height when you are sitting up, often around 1.20 metres from the floor, so they light your book without getting in the way.

Can a wall light replace a bedside lamp?

Yes, and it frees up the bedside table entirely. A wall light with an adjustable arm directs the light onto your book and can be controlled from bed. It is a popular solution in small bedrooms where every centimetre counts.

Does a wall light need to be hardwired?

Most wall lights are wired into a cable outlet in the wall, to be planned at installation or during renovation work. Some battery-powered or plug-in models avoid any building work. The power source is stated on each product page.

Where should I put wall lights in a hallway?

Spaced evenly along the wall, about 1.70 metres from the floor, wall lights guide the way with soft light and add rhythm. Place them two to three metres apart for even lighting with no dark spots.
