What gives this spoon its material and character:

• Material: unglazed terracotta, hand-modeled
• Surface: matte, with slight irregularities from the shaping process
• Bowl: round and deep, with slightly wavy edges
• Handle: flat, tapering towards the end
• Color: black

A matte black background against which colors stand out: the spoon turns a pinch of spices or a sauce into a small painting. It creates a stark contrast with the golden brass, and pairs perfectly with dark dishes, blackened wooden platters, and communal tables where you graze.

To use it properly and keep it beautiful:

• Usage: spices, sauces, chutneys, and hors d'oeuvres for presentation
• Food safe: yes
• Microwave: yes, according to the manufacturer
• No oven, dishwasher, or soaking
• Hand wash with mild soap, then dry completely after each use
• No harsh chemicals
• Porous material: a spicy oil left in the bowl for a few hours will stain the bottom
