Suar wood salad bowl

The size of each salad bowl, and the package for the large one:

• ø 20 cm: 20 cm in diameter, 9 cm high, 0.35 kg
• ø 25 cm: 25 cm in diameter, 12 cm deep, 0.75 kg
• Package for the ø 25 cm: 27 x 27 x 15 cm
• The small one nests inside the large one

What the material brings to each piece:

• Material: suar wood, raw finish
• Hand-carved, no two pieces identical
• Tones from honey to deep brown, often combined on a single bowl
• Straight, thick walls, flat base
• Branch scar and marked rings possible on the side
• Lighter and softer wood than teak

Between meals, it lives on the countertop or the island, where it serves as a fruit bowl. The cloud-like veins of suar pair with raw wood as well as matte ceramics, and their warmth stands out against light stone, a stainless steel countertop or ecru linen. The small size anchors a table for four; the large one takes pride of place at the center of a big table.

What each size is made for, and what it asks of you:

• ø 20 cm: the fruit or bread of a table for two to four
• ø 25 cm: seasonal fruit or a loaf of bread for the whole table
• Dry foods only: fruit, bread, dried fruit
• Empty and wipe right after service: suar retains strong odors
• Hand wash in warm water with mild soap, never soak
• Dry completely before storing
• Food-safe oil applied regularly to feed the wood and revive its color
• Not microwave, oven or dishwasher safe
