What it is made of, from wood to finish:

• Material: solid teak, turned from a single piece
• Finish: oiled, matte and soft to the touch
• Grain: honey-colored background with dark brown veins, continuous from the base to the edge
• Shape: round bowl with a raised rim, central pierced post
• Craftsmanship: handcrafted, slight variations in shade from one piece to another

Most incense holders are little boards that you hide away; this one is a solid, round object that deserves to be seen even when not in use. Its understated lines and teak with pronounced grain complement raw woods, plastered walls, and minimalist interiors, whether placed on a console table, a bathtub edge, or a nightstand.

What you need to know for its use and maintenance:

• Uses: coffee table, bathtub edge, bedside table or meditation corner
• Between uses, once emptied of ash: a few pieces of jewelry or a small tea light candle
• Straighten the incense stick before leaving the room: a tilted ember will blacken the wood
• Never leave an incense stick burning unattended
• Ash and dust: soft cloth
• Resin ring: scrape it off dry with your fingernail, water will not remove it
• A drop of vegetable oil over the entire bowl will even out the color; without oil, the teak will develop a silver-grey patina
• Not dishwasher, microwave, or oven safe; do not soak
• Indoor use
