Which table suits my dining room?
Allow about 60 cm per guest and keep at least 90 cm around the table to move about. Choose a rectangular table for a long room and for entertaining, a round one for a sociable feel in a tighter space, and an oval one as a compromise in a narrow passage.
How high should a pendant light hang above the dining table?
Leave about 70 to 85 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the pendant light: the table is well lit and you can see your guests without being dazzled. Centre the light over the table, not the room, if the two do not line up.
How do I pair a dining table with chairs?
There is no need for everything to match: echo a shared material or colour and play with contrast. Light chairs lift a dark wood table. Above all, keep the right seat height, around 45 cm for a 75 cm table.
Where should I store crockery in a dining room?
A sideboard placed near the table keeps plates, glasses and table linen within reach. It gives you a surface for serving and hides everything away behind its doors. A low model leaves room above for a mirror or a few objects.
