Material and craftsmanship, point by point:

Material: terracotta
Finish: fired, charcoal black
Craftsmanship: handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike
Shades: from deep grey to brown or bronze highlights, varying from one piece to another
Shape: rectangle with rounded corners, raised edge with a slightly irregular outline

Its coal-black color highlights whatever you place on it: the orange of salmon, the green of an avocado, or a dessert stand out clearly against it. The shades left by the artisan's hand give it a raw character that pairs well with wooden tables, chopsticks, and textured placemats. It dresses up an everyday meal just as well as a table set for guests.

What it holds and how to maintain it:

Uses: sushi, maki, a small slice of cake or dessert
Microwave and oven: yes, for both sizes
Washing: gentle, by hand, with mild soap
Drying: careful, to preserve the finish
Storage: the 25 x 12 cm nests inside the 36 x 17 cm
